Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board is a statutory local education authority operating under the terms of the Education and Training Boards Act 2013. The ETB provides mainstream educational programmes to schools and colleges as well as providing a wide range of adult and community programmes. The ETB’s educational remit extends from Balbriggan in the north of the county to Lucan in the west, to Dun Laoghaire in the south.
Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board (DDLETB) serves the three county council areas of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, South Dublin and Fingal and a population of 862,468 people. The administrative area covered by Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB reaches from Balbriggan in north County Dublin, to Dún Laoghaire in south County Dublin and Lucan in west County Dublin. As a statutory body, DDLETB has responsibility for a wide and varied suite of education and training services including Primary, Post Primary, Further Education and Training (FET) settings and Youth Services.
Post: Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship (Phase 4 & 6) Teacher
Relevant qualification and teaching council registration required: Teaching subjects in the related courses include Workshop Practical, Trade Theory, Technical Drawing, Mathematics, Team Leadership and Communications. Applicants may be timetabled for any combination of subjects as required. Preferable experience teaching in an FE/HE setting.
Nature of Contract: 22 Hours per week - Fixed Term

Conditions: All appointments are subject to assessment, confirmation and approval of academic qualifications as per circular letter 0052/2013, confirmation of Teaching Council registration, confirmation of medical fitness to work.
Remuneration: Is based on relevant teacher salary scales as set out by the Department of Education
Citizenship Requirements: Candidates should note that eligibility to compete for posts is open to citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) or to non-EEA nationals with a valid work permit. The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union along with Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Swiss citizens under EU agreement may also apply.

Primary Function: The role of the teacher is to educate in accordance with the Teaching Council’s Code of Professional Conduct for Teachers, to provide learning and support, as appropriate, and to teach the curriculum subject area(s).
Key Tasks:
• To assess students’ learning needs, design and implement programmes of instruction based on these individual needs.
• To engage with the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Curriculum at classroom and college level.
• To maintain a positive and co-operative working relationship with college management, other members of staff, students and the wider college community.

Essential Requirements:
• National Craft Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent Construction related degree.
• Current Registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland.
• The academic qualifications, enthusiasm and confidence needed to teach the subject area.
• The skills needed to prepare and deliver enjoyable and effective lessons using teaching strategies that provide for the needs of all students in the class; and to incorporate information technology to enhance teaching and learning.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students.
• A professional approach and the ability to work co-operatively and effectively with colleagues to develop professional relationships.
• Continually improve his/her professional knowledge and practice.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Be actively engaged members of his/her profession and the wider community.
