Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Adult Education Service part time Teacher is to improve the skills of adult learners of diverse ages and background. It involves the design and delivery of effective certified programmes at NFQ Level 5.
From this recruitment campaign, it is intended to form a panel of qualified staff for future vacancies which may arise in the DDLETB (Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB) Adult Education Service.
There are 15 hours available to teach healthcare related modules for the QQI Level 5 Health Service Skills award. The modules are
- Care Skills,
- Care Support,
- Care of the Older Person,
- Infection Prevention and Control,
- Palliative Care,
- Health and Safety at Work,
- Care Provision and Practice,
- and some general modules (work experience, communications, personal effectiveness at QQI level 5)
And an IT teacher for the following modules (hours will vary)
- Spreadsheets Level 5
- Word Processing Level 5
- Digital Marketing Level 4 and 5

Job Objectives
Below are the key responsibilities:
- Create and maintain an atmosphere suitable for learning.
- Design, organise and deliver lessons in specific subject areas.
- Use teaching methodologies suitable to the needs of adult learners.
- Prepare appropriate course materials and activities to meet the specific needs of the learners.
- Identify learners who need additional support and create individual learning plans.
- Offer useful feedback for learner improvement.
- Create a lively and supportive classroom atmosphere to ensure learner’s engagement.
- Document feedback to learners to enable them to self-correct and manage their own lifelong learning.
- Keep records of learner’s attendance and track their progress over the duration of the course.
- Write an end-of-course report/evaluations.
- Apply a range of assessment techniques suitable to learner groups and NFQ levels.
- Collaborate with other colleagues to engender a valuable learner experience.
- Participate in all DDLETB quality assurance, programme planning, and programme evaluation processes.
- Participate in DDLETB continuous professional development programmes.
- Participate in relevant communities of practice.
Skills Requirement
Essential Requirements:
- Current registration in subject area with Teaching Council of Ireland
- The technical/relevant academic qualifications, enthusiasm and confidence needed to deliver the subject area.
- Understand the key principles and philosophy of Adult Education
- The skills needed to prepare and deliver enjoyable and effective modules using appropriate learning strategies that provide for the needs of all learners and to incorporate technology to enhance learning outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A professional approach and ability to work with colleagues to develop professional relationships.
- Continually improve his/her professional knowledge and practice.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
