Project Worker for Arklow School Completion Programme 23 hpw Fixed Term Contract - 23 hours per week - KW290/Jul19
The School Completion Programme is part of the Education Welfare Service strand of TUSLA, Child and Family Agency. This is an initiative which aims to have a positive impact on levels of pupil retention in primary and post-primary schools and on the number of pupils who successfully complete upper second level, or equivalent. • Posts and appointments are subject to the approval of Department of Education & Skills. • Qualifications, Salary Scale and Conditions of Service in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education and Skills. • Appointment is to Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board. • Shortlisting of applicants may take place. • Canvassing will disqualify. • Late applications will not be considered. • KWETB is positive to disability and an equal opportunities employer. The project worker reports to the SCP Coordinator and the local management committee. 2. They are responsible for delivering a wide variety of programmes and services within all Arklow School Completion Programme cluster schools under the guidelines of the SCP. 3. The project worker will be responsible for building working relationships with management, school staff and targeted students and implementing initiatives and programmes focused on tackling behaviours and issues relevant to School Completion Programme targeted students educational attainment. 4. The project worker will also liaise with relevant government & community agencies to ensure continuity of support for targeted young people. 5. Some of the main day to day tasks for the project worker are: • Supervision of some after school sports and activities as they arise. • Working within a school for traveller children alongside school staff and families, supporting in-school programmes and School Completion Programme interventions as needed. • Involvement in holiday supports at a primary school level. • Completing paperwork and reports relating to the School Completion Programme in accordance with Tusla guidelines. • Engaging with targeted students and their families if young people are out of the school system to offer additional tuition and personal support. • Analysing needs within the schools and working with the coordinator in the development of new School Completion Programme initiatives and the evolution of existing programmes.
