Job Description

Primary Role:
The Community Training Officer is a key member of the Community Training Team with specific responsibility for the support and monitoring of Community Training Projects which includes, Second Providers, Learners and a wide range of Client Groups in the delivery of FET provision by DDLETB.

Job Location:
Loughlinstown Training Centre, Loughlinstown, Co Dublin

Reporting to: Centre Manager.

Nature of Post: Permanent

€47,013 to €61,418 p.a.

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week. Attendance will be required during normal Training Centre office hours and at such other times as are necessary for the delivery of the duties of the post. Attendance outside of normal office hours will be by prior agreement with the Centre Manager/Director Further Education as will the offsetting of such attendance against normal office hours attendance.

Annual Leave : 29 days per annum.

Job Objectives

Duties /Areas of Responsibility:
• Assist in the co-ordination of all activities within Community Training.
• Prepare planning and appropriate documentation for approval.
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders to finalise training interventions.
• Liaise with recruitment to schedule course information sessions, recruitment activity and screening activities.
• Attend/facilitate course information sessions as required.
• Attend openings of training provision to ensure all learners are registered.
• Carry out Financial and Training Monitoring visits on Community Training courses to ensure adherence to procedures and recommend corrective actions where appropriate.
• Ensure learners are trained to the required standards.
• Maintain accurate records for all Community Training courses.
• Monitor invoicing and monthly claims to ensure that all entries are verified and recorded accurately.
• Operate in–house systems to ensure claims and approvals are processed correctly.
• Process and monitor recruitment, retention, certification, progression and placement opportunities for learners in line with agreed budgets.
• Liaise with the various stakeholders to ensure that course provision is in line with direct requirements and FET strategy.
• Undertake any other duties as required by the manager.

All the above duties and responsibilities to be carried out in consultation and with the approval of the manager, in a flexible manner and a spirit of teamwork with the other staff in the unit.

Person Specification/Profile
Experience and Qualifications:
• A work history which demonstrates initiative, innovation and ability to accept change and new challenges.
• A flexible approach with ability to work independently or in a team.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the linkages between strategy and business plans with operational goals and targets.
• A Diploma in Education and Training or similar award would be desirable but not essential.
• Relevant experience within a Training/Education environment and knowledge of QQI Awards/Certification is desirable.
• Other requirements include being a car owner with full driving licence and also having a flexible approach to working outside normal hours which may be required from time to time.
